About
.

Alberto Mancini, an Italian born in Newton MA. USA on 1960, raised in the beautiful town of Atina near the city of Rome, received his doctorate in architecture from the University of Venice in 1986. During his academic studies, he participated as an art director with a group for the Biennale Theater.
In Venice, he participated in collective exhibitions at the Ministry if Art and Culture where he received the highest honor, the “Golden Lion Medal.” He also participated in exhibitions in Ascoli Piceno, Treviso, Bologna, Rome, and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and United States.
For many years in the past Mancini’s “necessary angel” invaded all the large background of his painting research.
Between the transparency of wings he drew again the new perimeter and the new limits of unusual figures and meanings pushing them to a new kind of imagining.
In this way, Mancini started to tell a “new story” committing to dream the thousand pieces and fragments of a search walk.
The meaning and work of an artist is often expressed in unusual ways and in a language that can be generally incomprehensible. The visual perception of the figurative structure is not easily translatable into words. It needs sight-time as slow as the movement of the far clouds; it needs distance for the viewer to perceive the global figure and to perceive the light substance of the color.
Since he’s begun painting, Mancini has been interested more in the alchemy of painting than in the actual act of painting or using the painting to solve a problem.
This is a way to work that is certainly an unusual approach but the result is very pregnant with meaning. In these last series of works, “skies and ponds”, the sign of the figure disappears and the colors occupy space slowly, producing chromatic picturesque structures built up with a careful addition of weaker transparencies.
It’s a kind of holistic painting, fully immersed, but finely articulated.

A sepal, petal, and a thorn
Upon a common summer's morn --
A flask of Dew -- A Bee or two --
A Breeze -- a caper in the trees --
And I'm a Rose!
